A Brand new Skin

Acne in men is a skin disease causing inflammation of the sebaceous glands and characterised by closed and/or open pores on the face, neck and upper body.
Popping and picking spots is never the way to go, since it can lead to infection or long-term scarring. And despite what the photographs in popular media such as Men's Health, Esquire, and the like might have you believe, acne on the body is a common affliction. Acne results from an overproduction of sebum (oil) from the sebaceous glands. Just as the face, chest, arms, and back are particular hot spots for sebaceous glands, so, too, are they particular hot spots for acne. Within acne, there are two different genres: non-inflammatory and inflammatory. Non-inflammatory acne includes blackheads and whiteheads and is often the less visible type of acne. Inflammatory acne, on the other hand, includes pimples, red pustules, and larger lesions that are formed when sebaceous glands flare up.

Like all of the other forms of men’s acne, there is no one thing that causes back acne. Medical evidence suggests back acne happens when oil glands start functioning more rapidly around puberty. The hormone group androgens, found in both females and males, get overactive which in turn causes a reaction in the oil glands, which make extra oil.

The oil glands are located just underneath the skin surface. Oil glands constantly are producing and secreting oil through the pores in the skin. When too much of the oils are produced the pores and hair follicles become clogged. The clogs obstruct the way that dead cells escape the skin, which in turn results in a mess of oil and dead cells plugging the hair follicle. This attracts bacterium, which causes the acne to be formed.
Back acne may just be something that certain men are prone to or it could be caused by other things such as tight clothing or a carrying a heavy backpack.
So how do i get rid of these unsightly spots on my back, I here you ask. Using effective men’s body washes is the best way to rid the body of old skin cells which allow for the new skin to come through. Body washes that include some form of granule such as Scoop Man Exfoliating Back Mask will pull the dead skin away more purposely, cleansing and improving the texture of the skin.

When washing the body try using a body brush, this is equally effective and ensures that you get to the places your hands cannot reach. Make sure the area you are washing is wet and slowly work the body wash in a gentle circular movement, do not be too vigorous as this can lead to red skin and soreness.
Rinse off thoroughly and dry gently with a soft towel. Tip: a body wash is not for everyday use, keep it to a couple of times a week and don’t have the water temperature too hot.

What to Get Him for Valentine's Day

It is easy for men to give their valentine something to show their love, popular ideas are flowers, lingerie, a romantic dinner, but what do you get that man to show how much he mean's to you.

Well we can help by suggesting an inexpensive idea that is personal and complementary, and the giver benefits from having a distinguished aroma around their special man.

Speaking from a man’s perspective it is always nice to get a surprise no matter what the occasion. For Valentine’s, an elegant cologne is always a hit, particularly a fragrance the wearer may not have considered before. We have a great selection of fine fragrances from such established colognes as Dunhill, Prada, Ralph Lauren and Issey Miyake to name a few.

All of our fragrances are supplied in Eau De Toilette as this is more concentrated than an aftershave and will last longer when worn. Remember to keep your fragrance ideally in its box if not in a dark environment (air heat and light are a colognes worst enemy) as this will make the cologne last longer, colognes and perfumes alke will go off after time.

Where to wear cologne is always something of a mystery for young men, many of who, follow in the footsteps of their fore bearers by “splashing it all over”. Our advice is to dab small amounts behind the ears, neck, and chest, and if you want to make an impression rub some through your hair.
Avoid the face as the alcohol content is too harsh for the skin. Don’t overdo it, it spoils the moment.
Wearing a quality fragrance does a lot for a man’s confidence and can be the finishing touch to a well groomed man.
Take a look at our selection of fragrances for men. Our prices are signficantly less than what you will find on the high street, so you can make your purchase online and have it delivered FREE. You will not be disappointed, and neither will he.

Combat Dry Skin

If you have been on a flight longer than four hours you will know that as well as the usual muscle aches, your skin also suffers particularly with the stream of "cool air" being pumped around.

So with autumn fast approaching and temperatures taking a dip outside it's important to ensure that your skin is protected and moisturised.
Itchy taught skin signals that your skin is really dry, and these characteristics will indoubtedly lead to fine lines, wrinkles and a dull appearance to your skin.

Once the skin has suffered these effects it's natural defence is weakened, thereby allowing the moisture to escape and impurities in.

But help is at hand.
As men, we are not that good at remembering to look after our skin, so what we need are fast acting, easily absorbed products that provide that level of protection and moisture we need when leading an active busy lifestyle.
Along with advice and tips on how to combat dry skin and other skin problems we have put together a collection of men's skin care products dedicated to tackle those skin ailments that can be eliminated with an effective skin care regime.

Buy Cut Throat Razors from Aspetto

It seems that a lot of men are taking shaving a lot more seriously these days as we've noticed a surge in popularity for cut throat razors and cut throat razor sets.

We have a whole range available, from an entry-level Cyril R Salter Black Open Cut Throat Razor at £34.99 through to the really impressive Dovo Cut Throat Open Razor at £99 and the pick of the bunch at £149, the Cyril R Salter Cut Throat Open Razor 6/8" (pictured below).

We've got a whole section on our site about how to shave with an open razor, so to get the best from your new purchase, have a read. Here's a little snippet:

"Hold the razor with your working hand. Place your thumb on the underside of the shank against the shoulder. Put your index, middle and ring fingers on the opposite side (top) of the shank. The handle should be between your ring and little finger, with the little finger resting on the tang. Some people prefer to have the ring finger on the tang also, but this is a matter for you"

Aspetto Website Updates

Hi there!
We've had a bit of a change-around on the website to enable us to focus on particular products and ranges. You'll notice a brand new section called 'Gifts' where we've listed out all our products and sets ideal as an anniversary gift or birthday gift for your husband or boyfriend, or just as a treat for yourself.

We've created similar landing pages for all our main ranges especially "mens skin care" which now means you can jump straight to the sections within, whether "Facial Washes", "Moisturisers" or "Anti-ageing" etc.

We've also added a "Brands" page to help you choose the products that you want from our extensive (and growing!) range.

Here at Aspetto we really think that this makes a difference to how the site works and how you, the customer, finds your way around the site. Of course, you know best though so please let us know what you think to the changes and if you think we could do more to make the Aspetto experience even better for you.
